Sarah has been reappointed as the President of the Newcastle and Hunter Junior Chamber after a successful year in 2011. She is heavily involved in the business community, and is active in the Hunter Business Chamber, representing the Junior Chamber at events and during their Board meetings. In addition to her duties as President of the NHJC, she also sits on the Salvation Army’s Advisory Board and is a member of the Red Shield Appeal Committee.

Sarah has over eight years recruitment experience in Newcastle and has been with Forsythes specialising in the recruitment of construction and civil engineering personnel for three and a half years. She has a keen interest in Construction and is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Construction Management at the University of Newcastle, and regularly attends Property Council and Women in Building and Associated Services events.

Sarah has taken the NHJC to the next level. During her tenor as President of the Junior Chamber the attendance and popularity of events has doubled, key businesses in the Hunter have began sponsoring the NHJC, and it has gained more exposure than over the past two years due to her proactive and positive approach and her commitment to the cause.

Lachlan Wilson

Lachlan is a Senior Associate at Sparke Helmore Lawyers and an Accredited Specialist in Dispute Resolution. Lachlan has over 8 years experience in litigation and dispute resolution practice in Newcastle and enjoys all aspects of advocacy and presentation.

Lachlan has been a long time supporter of the NHJC, first joining the Board in 2006 and becoming the Secretary in 2008. In 2011 Lachlan was proud to take up the role of Vice President of the NHJC and sees the continuing growth and development of the NHJC and an increased focus on corporate sponsorship as a significant achievements personally and for all of the Board.

Hannah Lyon

Hannah Lyon is the Project Accountant for WorleyParsons for their Hunter operations, based in Newcastle. Hannah's background prior to this included 8 years working from Trainee to Senior Accountant in public practice firms in Newcastle (Pricewaterhouse Coopers, McCosker Partners and Prosperity Advisers). She specialised in business and taxation advisory and compliance for locally owned businesses. Hannah has her Bachelor of Commerce and is currently completing her Chartered Accountant qualification.
 
After a number of years attending NHJC events, Hannah joined the NHJC board in 2010, and has taken the position of Treasurer in 2011. She enjoys promoting the development of young professionals in the Newcastle region, and is hoping to help grow the NHJC in 2012 through developing better relationships with the Newcastle business community, including with the Hunter Business Chamber.

Lenka Simic

PricewaterhouseCoopers

Lenka Simic is a Corporate Tax Consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Lenka commenced with PricewaterhouseCoopers upon completion of her Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Business and has 3 years experience in corporate tax compliance and advisory in Newcastle. Lenka has recently completed her Graduate Diploma of Chartered Accounting.

After attending a number of NHJC events during 2011, Lenka has joined the NHJC board in 2012 as Secretary and is looking forward to working with the current board to further expand networking opportunities for young professionals in the Newcastle and Hunter region.

Adel Issa

Adel Issa is Marketing Manger at GHD; one of the world’s leading engineering, architecture and environmental consulting companies. Her role involves managing all marketing activities for offices spanning from the Central Coast to Ballina.

Adel has her Bachelor of Business (Marketing/International Business Management).

Adel is also a Board Director for the Newcastle and Hunter Junior Chamber (NHJC), her background in event management and communications will see her heavily involved in promoting and organising the chambers activities for the 2012 calendar.  She also looks forward to creating strong relationships within the wider Hunter business community.

Ainslie Young

 

GradSchool

Ainslie Young is the Business Development Officer at GradSchool, The University of Newcastle’s online postgraduate business unit. Ainslie previously worked in a marketing and communication role for the University’s International Office, which involved offshore work in Hong Kong and Singapore. Ainslie has a Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) and recently completed a Master of Marketing.

After attending the NHJC’s Christmas Party in 2010, Ainslie was keen to be actively involved in the Junior Chamber and joined the board in 2011. Ainslie is hoping to strengthen the relationship between the University of Newcastle and NHJC, as well as promote NHJC as a valuable network to interested students. Ainslie views her position on the board as a privilege and is looking forward to the year ahead.

Ashley Stevens

Ashley Stevensis a solicitor who works in the Family and Relationships Law team at Newcastle law firm Mullane & Lindsay.  Ashley assists parties to a broken down marriage or de facto relationship come to agreement about the division of their property, or suitable arrangements for the care of their children.  She also assists parties with obtaining a Divorce.  Ashley graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Science (Forensic), and has a Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law, Sydney.

Ashley’s first involvement with the NHJC was attending the 2010 AGM, and from there she enjoyed attending many of the NHJC’s events during that year.  After a year of enjoying the events and opportunities as a guest, Ashley decided to become more involved in 2011 by joining the board as a director.  She is excited about assisting her fellow directors build the opportunities for young professionals in Newcastle, and looks forward to meeting as many NHJC members as possible in 2011.

Brendon Tricker

 

Computer Systems Australia (CSA)

Brendon is a product specialist at Computer Systems Australia (CSA) which has offices in Newcastle, Sydney and Melbourne, specialising in IT infrastructure from HP and Cisco, as well as being a Microsoft licensing specialist. Brendon has worked in the Newcastle IT industry since 2003, and is one subject away from completing his Bachelor of Information Technology at the University of Newcastle.

Brendon has been attending NHJC events sporadically since 2004, and it was in 2011 that he decided to become more involved and join the board. Given his passion for IT, the website updates has been his primary function, along with reviewing systems to allow the board to work smarter. Brendon has amassed an excellent network of friends within the IT industry, and the NHJC allows him to meet more people within other industries

Brigette Landy

 Commencing with Forsythes Recruitment in 2004, Brigette specialises in recruitment services for temp office support and accounts staff.  She fills temporary vacancies across a wide range of industries including corporate, manufacturing, mining, medical, legal, construction, engineering, industrial and government departments.

Brigette started attending NHJC events in 2008 and gained a keen interest in meeting other young professionals in the Newcastle area, after developing some great personal and business relationships through the network.  Her NHJC board responsibilities lay predominantly within events management and public relations.

David Clark

David is the Operational Excellence Manager at OneSteel Australian Tube Mills. He is a qualified Chemical Engineer and currently has roles which span across gaining efficiencies in manufacturing, maintenance and logistic processes. David draws upon experience from previous positions assisting with academic research at The University of Newcastle and working at Rio Tinto in the Hunter Valley. His background is a key element in bringing diversity to the NHJC Board and its membership portfolio. David has a clear desire to promote the Hunter's strong industrial sector and to bring mutual benefits to all affiliates of the NHJC.

Shaun Polley

 Shaun Polley is a Relationship Executive at Commonwealth Bank Corporate Financial Services located in Honeysuckle Drive. He specialises in loan and investment management solutions for a diversified portfolio of local businesses with a key focus toward international trade related industries. Shaun has a Bachelor of International Business with majors in International Economics and Finance and was awarded the Griffith University Medal for the highest achievement in this degree.

 After attending numerous NHJC events, Shaun joined the NHJC board in 2010, and has continued this position of Director in 2011. He enjoys developing strong network relations with the Hunter business community and enhancing the awareness of the benefits that NHJC can have for young professionals in the region.
